How to plan a leaflet campaign

Make the most of your leaflet campaign

Maximise the value of your door drop campaign
A door drop campaign can get your message directly into the hands and homes of the people you want to target. Follow our step-by-step guide to increase the impact of your next campaign.

Step 1: Get your target right
Do you want to target homes, businesses or both? Do you want to define an area by postcode, or do you have other criteria in mind? Don’t rush this step and don’t let your assumptions get the better of you. Your products and services may be right for both businesses and consumers.
We have a free tool that can help find refine and target your audience. Discover our Door to Door Customer Finder.
Step 2: Get your message right
Your business has a personality – a look and feel that makes it yours. This includes everything from the way you answer the phone, to the appearance of your premises and the design of your website. Your brand is the starting point for every message you send out. You’ll want the language, logos and images you use to reflect your business. If you’d like some help, get advice on creating your business identity (link to new page on creating your business identity) Or, learn how to design the perfect leaflet (link to new page design the perfect leaflet)
When you create your leaflet, not only do you want to introduce your proposition to customers, you’ll want to offer your customers something. Your offer could be a:
  • a free quote
  • a discount
  • a buy one get one free
  • a seasonal product
  • a combination if any of these.
Think about what might make customers stop, think and try something new. You can send a letter, a folded leaflet or something in a different format. There are also some size constraints to keep in mind:
  • minimum size 70 x 100mm
  • maximum size 297 x 210mm (A4)
  • maximum thickness 17mm
  • maximum weight 100g (only one 80-100g item can be accepted for each postcode sector per week).
  • you can fold larger items
  • you can exceed the maximum size for an extra charge, however each item can be no thicker than 17mm folded.
